Anand Gurnani

Animation Journalist, Writer & Creative Entrepreneur

Anand Gurnani is best known for his work as an animation journalist and for his hyper networking and guerilla marketing skills with which he built his company animationxpress.com, to become the undisputed leader in animation industry information for India and South Asia.
A lesser known fact about Anand is that he is also a writer and creator, currently developing  Six different TV series, books, graphic novels and short films all in partnership and collaboration with Independent artists from all over the world. His character driven, pre-school animated series titled Pink Daisy was nominated in the finals of the call for projects at Annecy this year. In his current pipeline he is working on developing 3 diverse new portals, a technology driven content aggregation venture and two reality TV formats.
Anand is also the India & South Asia representative for the world’s largest animation festival and market Annecy and MIFA and the India representative for the Licensing Show Las Vegas.

Kireet Khurana
He has won 5 President’s National Awards and 3 International Awards including Japan and Austria. Won 15 Awards in various festivals in India and abroad. He is a Conceptualiser, Director & Co-writer for India’s 1st live-action & 3D animation combo feature film Toonpur ka Superrhero starring Ajay Devgn & Kajol, Produced by Eros International & Big Screen Entertainer released with very good audience & critics’ response on Dec 2010. He has Directed award-winning shorts on Child Rights for National Film Board of Canada co-produced with UNICEF for prestigious ‘Rights From The Heart’ series. He is the Creator, Director and Screenplay Writer for the Award-Winning animation series- ‘Adventures of Chhota Birbal’ which was aired on Cartoon Network (2002). Chhota Birbal has the distinction of being the 1st Indian animated character to be licensed. He is the Co-Director & EP for live-action feature film ‘Laadli’ (Children’s Film Society India, 2002) He is the CEO & Creative Head, of Climb Media (I) Pvt. Ltd. (2nz Animation Co.) and have executed 400+ Ad Films for 90+ leading brands including Birla, Coke, Pepsico, Kellogg, Unilever, Nestle, & Ad agencies JWT, O&M, Lowe, Saatchi, BBDO, Mudra etc.
Pradeep Patel

Project Head and Creative Director at Crest Animation Studios.

I started my creative career  in 1997,learned Arts and 3d animation from an
institute called “MAGNUM COMPUTER GRAPHICS”. After the course got completed i
worked at The FX Factory Animation Studios  as a VFX artist . There i got the
opportunities to work on various Tv Serials and Bollywood movies like “Hum dil
de chuke sanam”,”kaho na payar hai” etc…). After Fx Factory i  moved to Sibar
studio in Mumbai as a CG artist. After  an year i joined  Crest animation
studio as a Jr animator  and like an eager-beaver made my way up to become a
CG Supervisor ,got the liberty to  work on several high-profile projects Like
Alpha and Omega(Feature Film) ,The Little Engine That Could (DVD) etc as a
Project supervisor. Currently i am working with Sony pictures on high end DVD’s
and television Series for instance -Bratzs,Piggly winks,Word world,Barnyard
etc. i have also  worked closely with many far-famed animation industry giants
such as Lions gate, Sony ,Universal,Mike young,Nickelodeon etc.
In my free time i like developing concepts and currently i am working on a
short film which is work in progress. And in future i look forward to develop my
writing skills as well.

Samar Nakhate

I have a deep interest in the visual arts, and the philosophy of science and cultures. I am committed to bringing the media to common people; to develop an interdisciplinary appreciation of audio-visual, moving-image media including film, television and theatre to various sections of the Indian society, such as students, women, teachers professionals in urban and rural areas. I am also passionately involved in nurturing and creating new young professionals for film, television and theatre.

Chetan Sharma
Writer, Designer & Director, Chetan Sharma is an award winning animator and co-founder & director of Animagic, one of India’s most reputed independent animation studios.
A self taught artist, he started in animation at the age of 15 and has become one of India’s champions of 2d animation. His studios commitment to making original content has given Indian animation some of its finest and most diverse award winning films.Recipient of the 2005 National Award as Best Animator from the President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam for his work in the acclaimed short film “Raju & I” (2003), winner of 15 National & International Awards including  the Unicef Campania Regiona Prize at Cartoons by the bay,Italy, the Alan Fortunoff Foundation Humanitarian Award at the Long Island Film Festival, ASIFA India’s Award of Excellence 2004, the Audience choice- Best short film Award at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA), 2005.His work on the design & storyboarding of the Cannes Silver winning Happydent & Xbox 360 TV Commercials and Bollywood Feature Films: Mission Kashmir (2000)and  Eklavya (2007,India’s official entry to the Academy awards 2007) for which he also designed and animated a 3 min long Title/prologue sequence has been acclaimed widely.

He has illustrated over a dozen children’s books the most popular being those for ‘Karadi Tales’ series  which won the coveted Parents choice award

Tripura, his first feature length film has won the Best feature award at FICCI FRAMES 2011 and he is currently working on the graphic novel adaptation of the same.

Shilpa Ranade

After studying Animation at The Royal College Art, London, Shilpa Ranade directed short animation
films for Channel 4, UK. Her films have traveled all over the world winning accolades in some of the most
prestigious film festivals. She is a founding member of Damaru, a project involved in creating content for
children. During the last decade, Shilpa has illustrated numerous children’s books for The Karadi Tales
Company, Scholastic India, Pratham and Eklavya.  As an Associate Professor she is teaching animation at
IDC, IIT Bombay.
Her current projects include Gopi Gavaiyaa Bagha Bajaiyaa, an animated feature film for the Children’s
Film Society of India and three short animated films along with a book of ten stories by children. Her
research interests are in the area of indigenous traditional pictorial narratives.
